Founded in 1996 by Jo Wadsworth, Chuck Caudill and Cynthia Mazzant, Tempest's principle mission was to provide NJ residents, primarily in Hudson County, affordable, classically based theatre and to introduce the county's youth to live theatre through theatre workshops and interactive events. Tempest also produced its mainstage productions in NYC. In 2002, Tempest expanded and opened Tempest Studios in PA. In 2011, Tempest became a member in The New Jersey Cultural Trust. In 2018, Tempest began the Central PA Theatre & Dance Fest in downtown State College, PA.
